Shelter

Our goal is to provide a safe, stable, family-like home where individuals with severe mental illness can find security, dignity, and belonging. A warm, welcoming environment alleviates stress and instability, protecting individuals from dangers such as homelessness, exploitation, and relapse. Housing is not just a physical necessity—it is a foundation for restoration, giving individuals and their families the stability they need to thrive.

We walk alongside individuals as they develop essential life skills and pursue meaningful work, recognizing that fruitful labor is part of God’s design for human dignity (Genesis 2:15; 2 Thessalonians 3:10). Many living with severe mental illness have been overlooked, but they are created in God’s image and called to lives of purpose. Through patient discipleship, practical teaching, and encouragement, we equip them to care for themselves, contribute to their communities, and honor God in their daily lives.

Family Support

We provide spiritual and emotional care within the local church, equipping believers to move beyond apprehension and embrace those with serious mental illness with wisdom, compassion, and the hope of Christ. The church must move past fear and hesitation, seeing these individuals as image-bearers. By reaching out to the overlooked, the church becomes a place of true ministry and restoration, reflecting the heart of Jesus.

Equipping Churches

We strengthen faith communities by providing biblical teaching and practical tools to help churches wisely and compassionately care for individuals with severe mental illness. Too often, misunderstanding and fear prevent churches from fully embracing these individuals, yet Christ calls us to respond with compassion and wisdom (James 3:17). We equip churches to be places of refuge and advocacy, ensuring that those who are often forgotten receive dignity, care, and gospel hope (Proverbs 31:8; Psalm 82:3-4).

Gospel Centrality and Mission

Mission

P82 Project Restoration is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support for the underserved seriously mentally ill so they can have a complete life.

Vision

P82 Project Restoration is a groundbreaking initiative that serves individuals with serious mental illness and their families through a gospel-driven approach that sets us apart. While traditional mental health systems often focus solely on clinical treatment, we recognize that a complete life requires more—a place to call home, community, purpose, and a strong connection to the local church. We bridge the gap between mental health care and real-life community integration, ensuring that no one walks this journey alone.

Gospel Centrality

At P82 Project Restoration, we follow Christ’s command to serve the weak and vulnerable (Psalm 82:3-4). Those living with severe mental illness are among the most overlooked in our nation, struggling with homelessness, isolation, and inadequate care. Many fall through the cracks of a system unequipped to meet their needs. Our mission is inspired by Mark 2:1-12, where friends brought a paralyzed man to Jesus, lowering him through a roof when the crowd made entry impossible. The man was completely dependent on others to reach Jesus—just as many living with severe mental illness rely on the compassion and advocacy of those around them. Jesus not only healed him but also forgave his sins, showing that He cares for both our immediate struggles and our

deepest need—salvation.

We believe that serious mental illnesses (SMI), such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, are best understood as conditions that, while deeply affecting a person’s life, do not define their identity. These illnesses fall more into the category of disease than not. While some argue that mental illness is entirely a product of sin, we reject this hard stance. At the same time, we exercise discernment and do not fully embrace every aspect of secular psychology or the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) without careful evaluation. We believe every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26–28) and is worthy of dignity and respect. However, we also recognize that all humanity suffers under the consequences of the fall (Genesis 3), which introduced sin, suffering, and disease into the world. Serious mental illness is one form of that suffering, and it has existed since Adam’s rebellion. As followers of Jesus, we are called to reflect His heart for those who are weak and vulnerable (Mark 5:1–20; Psalm 82:3–4). The church is uniquely positioned to care for individuals and families affected by serious mental illness. Our mission is to uphold biblical truth while showing Christlike compassion to those affected by serious mental illness. We seek to walk alongside individuals and families with wisdom, love, and unwavering hope in the gospel.
